THE RUNDOWN
No. 12 DBU dropped a 1-0 match vs. Lubbock Christian (3-0-1 LSC) Saturday afternoon at Patriot Soccer Field. The Patriots (3-1 LSC) attacked the Lady Chaps from all over the pitch but could not find the net as DBU dropped its first regular-season conference match since joining the Lone Star in 2019.Â
DBU set up camp on LCU's side of the pitch for most of the first half. Abigail Olmos and Michelle Gonzalez (Marta) fired early shots at Hannah Wise, but the goalkeeper answered the challenge time after time as DBU entered the break outshooting the Lady Chaps 15-4.
LCU struck the go-ahead goal in the 48th minute. Julie Shahi found the ball following a Rachel Allen deflection to sneak it past Hailey Brown. After the score, DBU continued to strike away at Lubbock Christian, but failed crosses, missed headers, and stellar play from Wise left the Patriots without an equalizing score.
