No. 15 Patriots Earn 76-71 Road Win Over A&M-Commerce

THE RUNDOWN
The No. 15 Patriots earned a 76-71 victory over A&M-Commerce Thursday night on the Field House floor for the first time since 1979. DBU (11-2) used a career-high 23 point performance from Jalen White to overcome the fourth-ranked Lions defense and win its second consecutive road game.

The Patriot defense set the tone early against TAMC; DBU strung together multiple defensive stops in the opening minutes that slowed the game's pace and made points difficult to come by for Commerce. The Patriots overcame a mistake-heavy first half to allow just two giveaways in the second period while creating 28 points off 23 Lion turnovers.

Jalen White's 23 points paced the Patriot offense, but DBU also received significant contributions from Chandler Jacobs and Grayson Buehler. Jacobs added 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, while Buehler's 11 points proved critical in a game where the offense missed the presence of their second-leading scorer in Ricky Lujan (19 ppg).

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
-Chandler Jacobs now sits atop the record books in all-time field goals made (605).
-DBU's win over the A&M-Commerce is the program's first since November 22, 2014, a 104-101 victory at the Burg Center.
-The Patriots are a perfect 5-0 in home-and-home games this season.

COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON A TOUGH WIN ON THE ROAD
"I thought it was a really gutsy performance. The guys did a good job of stepping up in the absence of Ricky tonight. Carson stepped up in a huge way tonight, he did an excellent job of putting pressure on their defense and making great passes... We cleaned up our first half turnovers and did a good job of taking care of the basketball in the second half and that made all the difference."
