No. 15 DBU Earns Third Straight Win, Tops A&M-Commerce, 80-69

THE RUNDOWN

The DBU Men's basketball team earned its first-ever series sweep of A&M- Commerce with an 80-69 victory Saturday at the Burg Center. With the win, the Patriots (12-2) remain undefeated at home and boast the second-best record in the Lone Star Conference.

The Patriots scored a season-high 56 of their 80 points inside the paint to counteract 26 percent perimeter shooting. William Heather led the inside attack with a career-best 19 points on perfect 9-of-9 shooting.

Carson Hughes, who took over point guard responsibilities, looked comfortable navigating the Commerce defense. Hughes tallied a career-high nine assists to help pilot Heather, Chandler Jacobs (18), Jalen White (11), Cameron Kahn (12), and Ricky Lujan (10) to double-figure scoring.

-The Patriots will now get comfortable at home as they play four of their last five games at the Burg Center.

COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE WIN

"Gritty win today. We were very efficient offensively, and our defense really stepped up in the second half... Will [William Heather] was perfect from the field and seemed to always make the right decision. They took the lead in the second half, but I am proud of the way we responded, especially on the boards and while winning the turnover battle."
