Glenn Delivers Game-Clinching Double to Lift DBU over Missouri

THE RUNDOWN
DBU knocked off the Missouri Tigers with a dramatic three-run eighth inning to take game one of the Frisco College Baseball Classic, 3-2. The Patriots pitched exceptionally well and used a timely offensive outburst to secure their sixth win of the season and their first ever win over Missouri.

The Tigers struck first on Thursday night, driving home a run in both the third and fifth innings. This was despite 4.1 innings of solid work from starter Kyle Rich. Rich had one of the best outings of his short time as a Patriot, striking out a career best six Tigers throughout the night.

Rhett Kouba would come on in relief and hold things at a 2-0 deficit as the right-hander worked 3.2 innings of shutdown baseball. Kouba would strike out five and allow just one hit in his appearance.

The pitching staff's efforts would be rewarded in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Patriot offense finally broke through. After several chances in the innings prior, DBU gashed the Tigers for three runs on a Ryan Wrobleski RBI and a game winning two-RBI double from Jackson Glenn. Glenn roped his double down the left field line, just past the out-stretched glove of 3B Luke Mann.

Zane Russell would come out of the pen to earn his first career save and close out a dramatic victory for the Patriots.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Patriots put a runner on the basepaths in every single inning they came to the plate tonight.
- Although they came close on two different occasions, DBU once again found a way to win without a long ball in the contest.
- The victory is the second comeback win in 2021 for DBU.
