THE RUNDOWN
The Patriots dropped the second game of a three-game series to Air Force, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon. Despite a solid start from Kyle Rich, DBU (19-8) was unable to crack the scoreboard against John Byrnes and company.
Rich went 6.2 innings, sprinkling eight Air Force hits over his outing. Rich struck out three and did not allow a walk, but gave up the only run that would matter in the third when Christian Blatchford singled into center field. The ball was misplayed in center field and Blatchford went all the way to third on the play, scoring Paul Skenes. Air Force would add two more runs in the game, one in the seventh and one in the eighth to earn their 14th win of the season.
Offensively, the Patriots were held to just three hits for the second consecutive day. River Town, Cole Moore, and Jeffrey David all registered hits, but were unable to come around to score.
