THE RUNDOWN
DBU came up shy in the rubber match against Air Force, dropping the series finale, 5-3. The Patriots (19-9) have now dropped two series at Horner Ballpark in the same season for the first time since 2014.
Rhett Kouba got the start on the mound and was very sharp for his second straight outing. Kouba struck out five of the first six Falcons he retired, ultimately going four innings and allowing two earned runs.
The Patriots started the scoring in the first when Jackson Glenn muscled his seventh home run of the season over the wall in left. Air Force would battle back, scoring a run in the third and fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. They would extend that lead in the fourth when they added two more with the help of a throwing error from the Patriots. DBU rallied back with two in the bottom half of the inning when Jeffrey David smoked a 2-RBI triple into the gap.
