THE RUNDOWN
DBU (10-6, 2-3 LSC) picked up its 10th win of the season with a 6-1 victory of Western New Mexico before falling to UT Permian Basin, 1-6 on Friday afternoon. With the win over WNMU, the Patriots secure their best conference record since 2011, with two LSC matches remaining on the season schedule.Â
DBU was sharp offensively versus Western New Mexico, as the doubles tandems of Grant McKenzie/Aaron Capone and Josh Williams/Gabe Garrido outpaced the Mustangs 13-6 through two frames. The Patriots would build upon their early success in singles play, with Mckenzie, Capone, Garrido, Williams, and Joshua Ramos each earning comfortable wins over WNMU.Â
Joshua Ramos would collect the lone win for the Patriots versus the Falcons of UTPB. The sophomore won his line 6 singles spot in three sets to claim his fifth win of the year.
HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN ON THE MEN'S WEEKEND
"I'm proud of the way our guys came out yesterday. We had things go our way early versus Western New Mexico, which helped us win the momentum of that match... UTPB was just a little too tough, but I believe we can bounce back strong in the coming weeks."
