THE RUNDOWN
DBU was victimized by the big inning once again, dropping game one of Saturday's double header to Evansville, 4-3. The Patriots (23-11) carried a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning, but the wheels fell off and Evansville needed only one hit to walk off DBU.

The Patriots opened the scoring with a big second inning, plating three runs and jumping on the Aces' starter, Reinhardt. Andres Sosa singled through the right side to bring home Jace Grady for the first score. Blayne Jones then demolished the first pitch he saw, blasting it way over the left field wall for the two-run home run.

With Rhett Kouba on the mound, the 3-0 lead looked like it would hold. While Kouba was sensational through six complete, he struggled in the seventh and loaded the bases. Kragen Kechely came in out of the bullpen, but was unable to stim the tide of momentum and the Purple Aces scored four runs, including the final one on a DBU error, to win the ballgame.

- Evansville continues to be a house of horrors for DBU, as seven of the nine losses all time to the Purple Aces have come on the road.
