THE RUNDOWN
DBU used three second-half scores to beat UT Permian Basin, 3-1 Wednesday night at Patriot Soccer Field. Freshman Peyton Voelker notched the go-ahead goal in the 65th minute to give the Patriots (3-1) their best start to a season since 2017.
For the second time in as many games, DBU found itself in a 0-1 hole at halftime. Yet, once again, the Patriots would make the necessary adjustments in another comeback win. DBU reset the game in the 61st minute after a give and go between Mason Wallak and Ethan Martinez opened a hole in the Falcons' (1-5-2) backline as Martinez netted the equalizer.Â
In a physical match with Patriots and Falcons colliding all over the pitch, Voelker swiped the ball off a defender's foot to turn defense into offense for the 2-1 lead. Ethan Unger found Emmanuel Loni for an insurance goal in the 69th minute to cement DBU's 3-1 win.Â

COACH JESS JOBE ON THE WIN
"We can't be unhappy with more second-half goals. It took us a little longer than we would like to work into the game. But I thought we started the second half really well... We made some adjustments and made some changes. This team has proven it's able to do that time and time again. We'll talk about starting games better, but overall we put together a really good performance... That's two games in a row we've come back from behind and I think that shows the character and grit of this team."
