THE RUNDOWN
The No. 7 DBU Women's Cross Country team competed at the South Central Regional Championships on Saturday, finishing eighth overall.  Adams State squeaked out the victory with 67 points, followed by Colorado School of Mines at 72 and UCCS at 84.

Finishing first for the Lady Patriots was Madison Brown, running her 6k in a time of 22:48.2, placing 34th.  Marissa Insinna was right behind in 36th, running a 22:48.8.  KayCee Keller was the third scorer, crossing the line in 47th with a time of 23:08.1 with Emme O'Donnell and Rylee Cristan in 50th and 54th respectively, running times of 23:13.1 and 23:21.4.

It was clear the elevation played a role in how well DBU performed.  The race went out fast from the start, catering to the teams with experience running at high altitudes.  Though the ladies raced to their plan, the singlets they needed to be in front of had already created significant space that couldn't be gained over the back half of the race.

It was not the day DBU was hoping for, but their chances of an at-large selection are not dashed.  The Lady Patriots have key wins from their performance at the Chili Pepper XC Festival with their only bad day being the regional race.  They will know along with every other team whether they received an at-large selection on Monday.

If DBU does qualify, they will travel to Seattle to race at the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships on Friday, December 2.
