THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots (22-5, 13-2 LSC) got a win against Angelo State (11-16, 7-8 LSC) in straight sets on the road. Setter
Lauryn Burt earned her 8th double-double of the season with 33 assists and a season-high 18 digs.
Â
Neither team could claim a convincing lead to start the match. With the score knotted at 12, outside hitters
AJ Koele and
Emily Van Slate combined for 6 kills in a 6-2 stretch for DBU. From there, the Lady Patriots sailed into the second frame, up 1-0 in the set count.
Â
The two foes found themselves tied through the 20 rallies to begin set 2. Looking for a spark reminiscent to that of the first set, DBU forced an Angelo State timeout after a quick 5-2 run. The stoppage in play did little to slow the Lady Patriots, as DBU extended its advantage to as many as seven before taking the set, 25-19.
Â
Following close starts to the sets one and two, the Rambelles opened the third frame by winning the first three points, but it didn't take long for the Lady Patriots to wake up. DBU evened the score at 9 thanks to a 9-6 stint. From that moment forward, Angelo State failed to regain an edge despite never trailing by more than three.

JORDAN FISH ON BURT'S PERFORMANCE AND THE TEAM'S EFFORT
"Always feels good to get a sweep on the road. Lauryn is as dominate as you can be as a setter. I am so happy for her having a great game. I also could not be more proud of how we played as a team. Everyone excelled in their roles tonight, and we are going to just keep focusing on one game at a time."
