Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Kahn, Lujan's 42 Points, White's Career-High 13 Boards Push DBU Past Cameron

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Basketball Team (6-3, 2-0) prevented the Cameron Aggies (2-5, 0-2) from completing a 19-point comeback on Saturday afternoon in The Burg Center. Jalen White cleaned up on the boards with 13 rebounds, and Cameron Kahn and Ricky Lujan anchored the offense with individual season-highs in scoring.

The Patriots sprinted out of the gates to start the game. Just over three minutes into the first half, Cameron already trailed 13-0, and a trio of threes from junior Austin Garner catalyzed a 20-4 start for DBU. An 8-0 stretch for the Aggies narrowed the margin to 10, 36-26, but the Patriots widened the gap back to 14 by the half.

Cameron wasted no time to get back into the game, diminishing the Patriot advantage to two possessions less than eight minutes into the second half. DBU kept the Aggies at arm's reach for the rest of the period but shot only 2-14 from 3-point territory.

Up, 76-74, with 28.4 seconds to go, Ta'Jay Dunlap drew a charge from Jaden Okon to prevent Cameron from tying the game or taking the lead. Dunlap was fouled by Caylen Goff-Brown on the subsequent in-bound play but missed the one-and-one free throw. Okon grabbed the rebound to give the Aggies the final possession of regulation, and Goff-Brown missed a difficult layup. Cameron Kahn snagged the rebound and was immediately fouled. He then knocked in a pair of free throws to seal the fourth consecutive tight win for the Patriots.

BLAKE FLICKNER ON STARTING CONFERENCE WITH TWO WINS
"We're 2-0 [in conference]. To me, that's more important than the win streak—is that we started conference with two wins.…We just got one non-conference game on Wednesday, so that'll be a good opportunity for us to work on a few things and get better, heal our bodies, and try and get back going into our final two conference games before [winter] break."

UP NEXT
The Patriots stay at home to face nearby Dallas Christian on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at The Burg.
