THE RUNDOWN
DBU raced their reduced squad at the Gerald Richey Invitational, placing fifth overall. In a race populated by mostly NCAA Division I programs, DBU was a long shot to be in the podium conversation, but the opportunity to race against qualify opponents for an all-underclassmen team will pay dividends for the Patriots down the stretch.
Sophomore
Megan Kirtley led DBU in scoring, placing 20th with a time of 20:40.
Yariveth Morales came across second, finishing 27th, running 20:50. Freshmen Sam Folsom,
Honor Pearson, and Madeline Seguin rounded out the scoring, placing 28th, 31st, and 32nd.
Though UT Arlington hosted the meet at the same park DBU does, their course was slightly different, staying to the right side of the entry road in the first loop and changing the levy 2-mile loop into an out-and-back to avoid any mud. When DBU hosts the Old Glory Gallup in October, there is hope the course will be ready to race its original route.
JACOB PHILLIPS ON THE SECOND MEET OF THE SEASON
"Today was a great opportunity for some of our team to get a little more experience racing. They have all been working really hard and so these opportunities are precious in their development."
UP NEXT
DBU will travel to Denver, CO to race in the Roadrunners Invite, the South Central Regional Preview, on September 17th. Race time is scheduled for 9:45 am.
