THE RUNDOWN
DBU Men's Soccer hosted West Texas A&M at Patriot Soccer Field and dropped a 2-0 decision to the Buffs. Two goals by Mateo Landis proved the difference as the Patriots lost their second conference match of the season, falling 1-2-1 in league play.
The Patriots had a few early chances to get ahead of the Buffs in the first half but were denied by goalkeeper Asaf Kristal. Peyton Voelker had a shot attempt in the 12th minute that caught the crossbar and turned the ball over to the Buffs.
In the 26th minute, a handball call on the Patriots led to a penalty kick goal by Mateo Landis to put the Buffs up 1-0. Eight minutes later, a call just outside the box resulted in a 25-yard free kick that flew over the DBU defense and just past freshman goalkeeper Patrick Banich for Landis's second goal of the night to put the Buffs up 2-0. The Patriots' effort to find the equalizing goal came up short, finishing the game with a final score of 2-0.
