THE RUNDOWNÂ
The DBU Men's Soccer Team tied with Eastern New Mexico 2-2 tonight in game five of league play. All four goals were scored in the second half and Gavyn Rosales was responsible for both goals for the Patriots. Â
The first half of the game proved scoreless as both teams struggled for possession. DBU made seven shot attempts, two being shots on goal by Peyton Voelker that just couldn't get past ENMU goalkeeper Paul Waschkau. The Patriot defense held ENMU to just three shots in the first half. Â
DBU's Gavyn Rosales started the second half off with a bang, earning a goal off of a pass from Peyton Voelker in the 49th minute. The Greyhounds quickly responded with a goal by Nick Huenig that was just out of reach for DBU's freshman goalkeeper Patrick Banich. Three minutes later, ENMU scored another goal on Ben Sauerlnder's shot to take the lead 2-1. Rosales found the equalizing goal for DBU in the 66th minute, scoring his second goal and bringing the score to 2-2. Â
In the final 25 minutes, DBU had four corner opportunities but was unable to find the game-winner. The draw earns the Patriots one point to contribute to their Lone Star Conference standings where they currently sit in sixth. Â
