THE RUNDOWNÂ
The DBU Men's Soccer team dropped a 3-0 contest to No. 2 Midwestern State in the Lone Star Conference opener on Wednesday afternoon at Patriot Soccer Field. A goal from the Mustangs' Jack Larkin in the 25th-minute proved to be the game-winner as the Patriots lost to their third nationally-ranked opponent this season.
In the game's first critical moment, MSU's Mere Escobar missed a penalty kick goal wide left to keep the match scoreless through the first 16 minutes. Eight minutes later, the Mustangs would deliver the game's first point as Escobar connected with Larkin inside the box to put MSU on top, 1-0.
Trailing by a goal at the break, DBU allowed a goal four minutes into the second half when Marcol Reyes' shot from the top of the 18-yard box found the back of the net. Reyes' goal came as a second chance opportunity off of a Mustangs' corner kick.
MSU's final goal came in the 68th-minute as Liam Pritchard delivered his third goal of the season for good measure.
