THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Basketball team was on a roll during the South Central Region Challenge as they trounced Colorado Christian 114-75 in a 35-pt victory. The game was close early, with full-court pressure from both teams. There was a constant battle until DBU looked to pull away quickly with a layup from Cameron Kahn, creating a double-digit lead against the Cougars. Behind 14 turnovers forced by DBU, the Patriots quickly found their rhythm and went on an 8-0 run and closed the half with a 26-point lead.
Ricky Lujan and
Cameron Kahn ended the half on fire with 17 and 16 points.Â
The Cougars came onto the court hungry in the second half, not letting up, as they seemed to make a comeback in the paint. The Patriots responded with a 9-2 run, creating a 36-point barrier between the teams. DBU committed a few turnovers while the defense held CCU to 44.1 percent shooting, only allowing 14 field goals in the second half.
The Patriots scored nine straight points to take a 77-41 advantage following an Austin Garner three-pointer and a
Ta'Jay Dunlap free-throw. The margin did not dip below 35 points for the remainder of the game, and DBU increased the lead to as many as 40 points in the second half on multiple occasions.Â

BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE PATRIOTS' EFFICIENCY
"This was an extremely balanced effort tonight. Cam and
Ricky really set the tone early, and we're incredibly efficient.
Deng had another great game, and
Ta'Jay was a real pit bull defensively. We got great contributions from our bench (47 bench points) and continued to be very efficient offensively. Really proud of our effort in a quick turnaround. Excited to be back at home this week to play in front of the Patriot faithful."
