No. 13 Patriots Close Homecoming Weekend With Win Against Bulldogs

THE RUNDOWN
No. 13 DBU (3-0) closed their homecoming weekend before a sold-out Burg Center with a 19-pt win against Southwestern Oklahoma State (0-3). 88-69. Cameron Kahn led the Patriots with 18 points and 16 rebounds as the Patriots won for the third straight time.

Heavy pressure from the Patriots in the first half led to 12 turnovers and saw DBU keep the Bulldogs from scoring a field goal over a span of eight minutes. The Patriots closed the half with a 23-point lead, 50-27, shooting 47 percent from the field while holding the Bulldogs to a mere 36 percent.

The Patriots continued their relentless defensive pressure in the second half, finishing the game with 12 steals and 32 rebounds, with 16 coming from
Cameron Kahn. With DBU leading by as many as 33 points, SWOSU was able to force the Patriots into a four-minute scoring drought and drew to within 18 at the 6:26 mark. The Patriots were able to maintain control over the final six minutes as they cruised to an 88-69 win to earn their third straight victory.

BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE PATRIOTS' HOMECOMING PERFORMANCE
"There were some really good things at halftime; there was not much to be upset about. They made some adjustments in the second half, and we didn't respond as well as I had liked. There are some things to learn from our second half there. We had some defensive breakdowns, and we've just got to continue playing for 40 minutes. We are having multiple guys step up. We love what they're giving, and the intensity they bring, and it is wonderful to see those guys go out and give 100% of everything they have and leave it all on the floor for these fans and our Lord and Savior and use the gifts he's blessed them with to the absolute max of their ability. If we've got an opportunity to approve, we've got to keep improving. We must continue to learn from our mistakes and see if we can improve on Wednesday."
