DBU Knocked Out of LSC Tournament in Semifinal Loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville

THE RUNDOWN
After a victory over Texas A&M International on Thursday Night, the DBU Volleyball team was back in action on Friday at the Burg Center where they fell 3-1 to Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Semifinals of Lone Star Conference Tournament.

Much like last night, the first set started tight with a deadlock at seven and then again at 12. Texas A&M-Kingsville grabbed a 19-17 lead late in the set, forcing the DBU into a timeout. Unfortunately for the Lady Patriots, Texas A&M-Kingsville would never look back as they took the opening set 25-20. DBU hit just 0.82 in the first frame.

The second set didn't start much better for the Lady Patriots, whose hitting woes continued as they fell behind 12-8. The Javelinas would use a 13-1 run to cruise to a 25-11 set-two victory. Suddenly, the number one-seeded Patriots' backs were against the wall.

With their Lone Star Conference Tournament on the line, DBU was locked in another tight set. The Lady Patriots tied the set at seven and then again at 12 before grabbing the next two points to take a 14-12 lead and force a Texas A&M-Kingsville timeout. Following the break, the Patriots used a 5-2 run to grab a 20-17 lead. On their first set point of the night, Delaney Fuller forced a Javelina error to give the Lady Patriots a critical set three win.

Set four opened with three straight aces from Jenna McMichael and a 6-1 DBU run. Unfortunately for DBU, Texas A&M-Kingsville would come back to tie this set at 11 and eventually take a 12-11 lead, forcing a DBU timeout. Following the timeout, the Javelinas went on a 7-1 run to put the Lady Patriots down 18-13. Down 24-16 the Lady Patriots would rally for three straight points. However, that would not be enough as DBU fell 25-19 to close out the game.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
