Frank's 25-Point Performance Lifts No. 4 DBU to Win Over Mustangs

THE RUNDOWN
On Thursday night, No. 4, DBU defeated Western New Mexico, 107-97, at the Burg Center in Dallas. The Patriots were led by Trevor Frank's season-high 25 points, including 6-of-6 from three-point range. Frank was joined by four other Patriots in double-figures, including Ricky Lujan (17), Cameron Kahn (16), Isaac Bullard (15), and Justin Haire (10).

A three-pointer by
Trevor Frank gave DBU a 20-17 advantage six minutes into the game and a lead they would not relinquish. It would be three of Frank's19 first half points. The Patriots went on an 18-0 run over the next three minutes. An Issac Bullard layup put the Patriots up by 23 points, 63-40. The Mustangs looked to close the deficit, but a Frank three-pointer put DBU ahead by 13 points with 5:34 left in the half. Two Bullard free throws ended the first half, with DBU leading 67-43.

A relentless effort by the Patriot's defense did not allow a Mustangs field goal for the first two-and-a-half minutes in the second half. Cody Stevens drained a three-pointer to give DBU their largest lead of the game at 29 points with 13:11 left on the clock. WNMU answered with a 9-0 run to draw within 19 of DBU. A Justin Haire dunk with 6:58 left to play seized control of the game for the Patriots as they eventually held on for a 10-point win.

BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE  WIN OVER OVER WESTERN NEW MEXICO
"Trevor Frank gave us a huge spark tonight; he was a big catalyst for our run. I love the way he was shooting the ball and the energy he brings each and every night. The conference is not going to get any easier, and the LSC is a very tough and physical league. We will have to withstand that it will be a grind, so we have to have great mental and physical toughness throughout the season. Justin and Cam gave us some really good minutes and are doing a good job running the floor, being physically inside, and playing well right now."
