The DBU Men's Tennis team split a pair of matches this week at the Arlington Tennis Center, winning over Austin College, 7-0 on Thursday before falling to St. Mary's, 6-1 on Saturday. With the split the Patriots improve to 11-10 on the season.
In the shutout victory over Austin College, the Patriots claimed the doubles point with a clean sweep. The brother combo of
Aaron Capone and
Zach Capone clinched the win at the line 1 position with a 6-2 victory. In singles play, DBU won all six points highlighted by Aaron Rule's win in straight sets at the line 1 spot.
On Saturday in Lone Star Conference action against St. Mary's, the Patriots' lone point came from
Aaron Capone's win in line 3 singles as Capone breezed through a win in straight sets over the Rattlers' Daniel Matheu Baldor. While DBU dropped the point to St. Mary's in doubles, the tandem of
Aaron Capone and
Fabian Rosales won 6-1 at the line 2 position.

"We had some good opportunities once again this weekend. The biggest positive takeaway is that our team is incredibly young and if we keep improving, the guture is going to be bright. We just have to learn from these tough matches and keep getting better."
UP NEXT
DBU will face three Lone Star Conference opponents on the road next week. On Tuesday, the Patriots travel to Tyler, Texas, to face a UT Tyler team ranked No. 2 in the nation, followed by a Friday match at UAFS in Fort Smith, Arkansas. DBU's three-game road trip concludes on Saturday in Lawton, Oklahoma, versus Cameron.
