DBU competed at the Lone Star Conference Championships, finishing fifth overall, scoring 112 points.  No. 3 West Texas A&M won the meet going away, a perfect score of 15 points.  St. Edwards squeaked into second place with 97 points, just one point ahead of Western New Mexico at 98 points.  Texas A&M International finished seven points ahead of DBU with 105 points.

In his final conference championship race, Adam Whitehead ran the best race of the year, finishing 11th overall with a time of 24:39.79.  Jeb Williamson was second across the line for DBU, slotting in 16th at 25:03.82, just a few steps ahead of Isaac Pendley in 18th, running a 25:08.82.  DBU's fourth runner was Drew McLaughlin in 31st, finishing with a time of 25:47.93, followed by Colton Howard, running the course in 26:02.21 to secure 36th place.

The difference between second place and fifth was only 16 points, a tight point spread for four teams.  In terms of time, the Patriots completed the 8k race with a team average of 25:19, only 10 seconds behind the Hilltoppers at 25:09.  Nonetheless, it is a hard result to accept.  After finding the podium the last three years, slipping to fifth is agonizing.  Fortunately, DBU's season is not in the books yet.  In two weeks, they will toe the starting line in Colorado for a chance to race at the NCAA Division II XC National Championships.
