No. 12 DBU Surges Past UT Tyler, 99-73

THE RUNDOWN
No. 12 DBU pushed back into the win column with a 99-73 win over UT Tyler on Thursday night in Tyler, TX. Cameron Kahn led DBU with a team-high 29 points, and Justin Haire led with eight rebounds. 

Austin Garner quickly got DBU on the board with a three-pointer after a Cameron Kahn steal to open the game. DBU took their first double-digit lead, 10-0, following free throws from Kahn at the 16:00 mark of the opening half. UT Tyler eventually joined DBU in scoring with a three-pointer, ending a DBU Patriots 15-0 run-over six minutes.  DBU remained ahead, 19-5, at the second media timeout of the half. A layup by UT Tyler snapped the DBU's momentum as they opened an 11-2 run, trimming the Patriots' double-digit lead to 7, 21-14.

 Just under 10 minutes into the first half, a Kahn three-pointer off of a Ta'Jay Dunlap assist gave DBU back their double-digit lead. DBU's lead fluctuated between nine and 11 as both teams traded buckets until an 8-0 burst was assisted by a Justin Haire layup, and three-pointers from Trevor Frank and David Bradley extended DBU's margin to 17 with 4:17 on the clock. Bradley connected on another shot from outside the arc to give DBU their largest lead of the game at the time, 19.  DBU took a 49-27  lead into the break, led by Kahn's 16 first-half points. 

A back-and-forth first three minutes of the second half saw DBU build its lead slightly, 58-34. UT Tyler trimmed DBU's lead to 18 on a 9-3 burst. DBU held UT Tyler without a made field goal for over three minutes. UT Tyler snapped the drought via a layup with 9:01 remaining, making it a 75-54 game. DBU got back to a 24-point lead, 82-58, after a layup from Haire. DBU eclipsed 90 points on the back of a Cody Stevens jumper. A floating jump shot and a free throw from Bradley put the finishing touches on a DBU 99-73 victory.

- DBU outscored UT Tyler in on-court points 34-20. 
- The Patriots were 18-25 from the charity stripe.

Austin, in particular, I thought really moved the ball well today and helped set the tone. Cam was unstoppable inside and out, and Justin was great on the glass."
