No. 7 DBU Run Rules New Mexico State in 14-0 Win Over Aggies

THE RUNDOWN
No. 7 DBU run ruled New Mexico State in 7 innings with a 10-spot in the fourth to secure a series win over the Aggies on Friday night at Horner Ballpark. The Patriots' 14-0 victory gave them their 22nd win of the year as DBU improved to 22-4 on the season.

Ethan Mann started the first with an RBI double versus his former team, giving DBU an early 1-0 lead. The Patriots scored their second run of the inning on a single up the middle from Chayton Krauss, continuing his impressive hit streak.

Beginning the pandemonium in the third, Grant Jay blasted his 10th round-trip of the season, this one a three-run shot over the center field wall. Miguel Santos and Ethan Mann added two more runs with back-to-back RBI singles to make it a 7-0 ballgame.

Staying on the gas, Luke Heefner continued to attack the Aggies' defense with a two-run double to right center, bringing home Santos and Mann.

Next up, it was Chayton Krauss's turn to bring in a run with a double, this one to left-center field to score another run.

Closing out the inning was the man who started the fireworks, Grant Jay, who crushed his second homer of the inning to score the ninth and 10th runs of the inning, extending the lead to 12-0 over New Mexico.

While the offense was on fire all night, Jaron DeBerry ensured the Aggies' offense stayed cold. In 6.0 scoreless innings, DeBerry allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out five Aggie batters.

In the fifth, Krauss earned his third RBI of the ballgame on a single through the left side to score Mann. The Patriots earned their 14th run of the night after Joey Nerat singled through the right side to bring home Heefner.

Dillon Haines came on in relief of DeBerry in the seventh and had no problems closing out the game. Haines struck out the first two batters he faced and induced a fly ball out to seal the 14-0 win for DBU.
