THE RUNDOWN
No. 11 DBU fell 10-4 to Air Force on Sunday at Erdle Field. The loss hands the Falcons the series as the Patriots drop back-to-back series for the first time this year.
Â
Air Force's Jay Thomason continued his hot weekend in the first as he lifted a sacrifice fly to right to bring home the game's first run and put the Falcons up 1-0. DBU would instantly get that run back in the top of the second as
Miguel Santos laced an RBI single to tie things at one apiece.
Â
The Falcons scored single runs in each of the next three innings, beginning with a Walker Zapp bases-loaded walk. Jake Greiving drove in a run on a single, and Sam Kulasingam produced the third run when he grounded into a double play to bring home a run, putting Air Force up, 4-1.
Â
Miguel Santos added his second RBI of the day on an infield single in the fifth to cut the Patriot deficit to two. Air Force would instantly respond with a four-run sixth highlighted by a three-run homer from Jay Thomason to make it 8-2 Falcons.
Â
Michael Datatto launched a two-run home run in the seventh to pull DBU back to within four, but the Falcons would find two more in the eighth to make it 10-4.
Â
DBU scored two in the top of the ninth on an RBI double from Dattalo and a run-scoring triple by
Joey Nerat before
Alex Pendergast struck out to end the game.
