No. 19 DBU Wins Back & Forth Battle on the Road at No. 15 Oklahoma State

THE RUNDOWN
No. 19 DBU used five home runs, including a two-run homer by Chayton Krauss in the ninth inning, to win a back-and-forth thriller over No. 15 Oklahoma State, 8-7, on Tuesday night at O'Brate Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It was Krauss' second home run of the night as part of a four-RBI game, helping lift the Patriots to their fourth straight win over the Cowboys.

DBU got things started early when Michael Dattalo continued his hot hitting, scoring Chayton Krauss on an RBI single to put the Patriots up 1-0 in the first. The Cowboys would strike for three runs on a single, a DBU error, and a sacrifice fly put OSU up 3-1.

Nathan Humpherys drove his fourth home run of the year over the right-center field wall in the second inning to get the Patriots back to within one. Once again, OSU would respond as Ian Daugherty smashed a solo shot to make it 4-2 Cowboys.

In the top of the third, Chayton Krauss tied the game with a two-run blast out to right to even things at four. An RBI groundout gave OSU the lead in their half of the fourth, forcing DBU to find an answer once again.

Finding an answer is exactly what the Patriots did, as Miguel Santos crushed his 200th career hit over the center field wall to tie the game at five in the seventh inning. In the very next inning, Joey Nerat connected on a home run to give DBU their first lead since the top of the first.

With DBU up 6-5 in the eighth, the Cowboys' Nolan Schubart connected on a two-run home run to right to put OSU back on top, 7-6.

Down by one in the ninth, Chayton Krauss delivered his second home run of the day, an opposite-field shot to give DBU an 8-7 lead.

Connor Mackay entered in the bottom of the ninth, and after walking the lead-off batter, the Patriots' senior right-hander retired the next three batters to close out the game.
