No. 19 Patriots Even Series With 8-3 Win Over Bulldogs

THE RUNDOWN
No. 19 DBU used a steady offensive attack in the middle innings to take down the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 8-3, in game one of Sunday's doubleheader at Horner Ballpark. The Patriots also used a career-high 10-strikeout performance from Jaron DeBerry to even the series against the Bulldogs.

The Patriots started their scoring in the third when Miguel Santos brought home Grant Jay on an RBI ground out. In the fourth, Alex Pendergast lifted a sacrifice fly to right and Grant Jay came through with an RBI single to score DBU's third run of the afternoon.

In the home half of the fifth, Chayton Krauss laced a single up the middle to score a run, and Ethan Mann ripped a two-run double in the sixth to put the Patriots ahead 5-0.

DBU starter Jaron DeBerry struck out 10 batters en route to a 5.2 shutout inning performance.

Louisiana Tech got on the board in the eighth, scoring two runs on an error in right field. The Bulldogs pushed another across on a wild pitch to make it 6-3.

That would be as close as Louisiana Tech would come to DBU as the Patriots' Nathan Humphreys knocked a run in on a base hit in the eighth, and Michael Darell followed with a two-run double to make it 8-3. In the ninth, Jace Russell came on to record the final out on a strikeout of Adarius Myers.
