Patriots Clinch Series Over Liberty on Poole's Walk-Off Blast

THE RUNDOWN
DBU used Tom Poole's second walk-off homer of the week to defeat Liberty, 4-3, in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday at Horner Ballpark. Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Poole's blast over the wall in right handed the Patriots a series win over the Flames.

Liberty got on the board first in the third with an RBI single Aidan Sweatt and then tacked on another run in the fourth on a solo home run from Todd Hudson.

Trailing 2-0, DBU's Nathan Humphreys got one back with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth.

Jaron DeBerry put together a strong start for DBU, going 5.0 innings while striking out five Flames. The Patriots would get strong relief from Dillon Haines, who threw 3.0 scoreless innings out of the pen.

Liberty added an insurance run in the ninth when Todd Hudson lifted his second home run of the day over the wall in left-center to make it 3-1.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Patriots put the first two runners on with a pair of singles from Michael Dattalo and Chayton Krauss. With two on and nobody out, Tom Poole came up with more Horner Heroics as he smashed a three-run homer over the right field wall to give DBU a 4-3 win.
