The DBU Men's Soccer team picked up a pivotal three points in Lone Star Conference play with a 3-0 road victory over St. Mary's on Wednesday night at Sigma Beta Chi Field in San Antonio. The first two career goals from redshirt freshman forward
Caden Berg paved the way for the Patriots as DBU improved to 3-3-2 in conference play.
Berg wasted no time jumpstarting the Patriots' offense, curling a right-footed strike into the top right corner of the net just eight minutes into the match to give DBU an early advantage. The momentum continued nine minutes later when
Erik Oliveira doubled the lead with his team-leading sixth goal of the year.
In the second half, Berg struck again in the 56th minute, calmly converting his second goal of the night to seal the commanding victory for the Patriots.
Though outshot 16-12, DBU's defense stood tall behind redshirt sophomore
Sean Mattivi, who matched a career-high with seven saves to record his second shutout in just his fifth career start for the Patriots.
