THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Soccer team battled to a 2–2 draw against St. Edward's on Senior Night at Patriot Soccer Field on Saturday, securing a crucial point that officially clinches the Patriots' spot in next week's Lone Star Conference Tournament.

The Hilltoppers struck first just six minutes into the match when an unfortunate own goal gave St. Edward's the early advantage. DBU responded before the half, as freshman Jared Perez found the back of the net in the 39th minute — his first career goal — off a well-worked play assisted by Cason Berg and Colby deLeeuw.

The Patriots carried that momentum into the second half and took the lead in the 62nd minute when Gavyn Rosales sent a pinpoint cross into the box that Caden Berg calmly finished, putting DBU up 2–1.

However, a controversial foul on goalkeeper Sean Mattivi in the 73rd minute gave the Hilltoppers a penalty kick, which Izaiah Garza converted to even the score at 2–2.

DBU nearly found a dramatic winner in the final seconds when Bryan Beck's free kick from midfield created chaos in front of the goal, but the Patriots could not get a clean shot on target before the final whistle sounded.

• With the draw, DBU now sits on 12 points in the LSC standings — one point clear of UT Tyler and West Texas A&M for the No. 4 spot. The No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will host quarterfinal matches on November 8.
• The 2–2 tie marks just the second draw in 16 all-time meetings between DBU and St. Edward's.
• Caden Berg's goal was his third in the last two matches.
