Patriots Earn Draw in Crosstown Clash With UT Dallas

THE RUNDOWN
In a tightly contested crosstown clash separated by just 30 miles, DBU and UT Dallas battled to a 1–1 draw on Wednesday night at Patriot Soccer Field. The result earned the Patriots a valuable point in the Lone Star Conference standings, moving them to 1–1–1 in league play.

The Comets struck first in the opening minutes when Kingsley Annan found the back of the net from close range inside the six-yard box, giving UTD an early advantage. The lead held until the 20th minute when DBU drew level after a pivotal sequence inside the box.

Erik Oliveira was taken down by Annan, and after video review, the foul was awarded to DBU. Senior midfielder Gavyn Rosales stepped to the spot and calmly slotted his penalty kick low into the bottom right corner to even the match at one apiece.

From there, both defenses settled in. The Patriots and Comets traded possessions throughout the second half, with quality scoring chances coming at a premium. UTD outshot DBU, 4–3, after the break, but neither side could find the game-winner as the match ended in a stalemate.
