THE RUNDOWN
The No. 1–ranked DBU Women's Soccer team punched its ticket to the South Central Regional Final with a gritty 1-0 victory over Texas Woman's University on Sunday afternoon at Patriot Soccer Field.
Parker Coe delivered the difference-maker in the 57th minute, pushing the Patriots to their seventh regional final appearance in program history.
In a physical, defensive-minded first half, both teams struggled to break through. The Pioneers held a narrow 4–3 edge in shots, while DBU's
Skylar Belanger produced the lone shot on frame in the 29th minute. The Patriots' back line stood tall, limiting TWU's opportunities and setting the stage for DBU's second-half surge.
Out of the break, the Patriots immediately went on the attack, firing three shots in the opening nine minutes. The breakthrough came following a TWU foul, when Belanger sent a driven free kick from over 30 yards into the box.
McKenna Vela rose for the initial header, the ball deflected off
Anne Louthan, and Coe slotted home the go-ahead goal into an open net.
DBU continued to dominate the run of play, outshooting TWU 8–3 in the final 45 minutes. The Patriots' defense was equally impressive, holding the Pioneers' leading scorer, Giselle Gutierrez, to just one shot as DBU secured its 19th win of the season.
