Patriots Defeat Muleriders Saturday Night, Capping Undefeated Home Stand

THE RUNDOWN
Saturday afternoon, DBU (4-4) took down Southern Arkansas (3-3), cementing an undefeated weekend at The Burg Center to conclude their non-schedule. Jackson McCabe led the group in points with 18, a season-high. McCabe also hauled in a season-high seven rebounds, three of which were on the offensive glass.

Drew Calderon and Trevor Frank each launched threes to open the scoring, giving DBU a 6-0 lead after the jump. The Muleriders would knot the score soon after as the two teams traded 6-0 runs, but SAU would never hold the lead tonight: For the third time this season, DBU finished a game without trailing at any point. The Patriot offense would rattle off 51 points in the opening frame, on the backs of 50% efficiency from the three-point line, keeping the 'Riders in their rearview mirrors for the duration of the period.

DBU didn't maintain the success from beyond the arc they saw in the first half, but it didn't matter: The Patriot offense went 17/25 from inside the arc and made eight of their ten free throws, outscoring the 'Riders 48-42 in the final 20 minutes as DBU improved to 5-3 in the all-time series against Southern Arkansas. Xavion Brown finished with 16 points, which was a season-high, to go along with six assists, four rebounds, and four steals.
