The DBU Men's Track & Field team kicked off the outdoor season at the TCU Alumni Invitational, delivering an impressive opening-weekend performance. With a packed schedule ahead—racing in five of the next six weekends—the Patriots set the tone for an exciting stretch of competition.
One of the highlights of the meet came in the 3000m Steeplechase, where DBU dominated the event. Luke Booker battled gusty winds and the blistering sun to take first place with a winning time of 9:46.74. The Patriots completed a podium sweep behind him, as
Isaac Pendley finished second in 9:51.03, followed by
Colton Howard in third with a time of 10:03.02.
Earlier in the day, DBU delivered strong performances in the 5000m.
Noah Joy placed eighth with a time of 15:13.89, finishing just five seconds off his personal best.
CJ Hobbs set a new personal record, crossing the line in 15:22.57 for 11th place. Freshmen
John Matlack and Grayson Klosowski also ran their fastest collegiate times, finishing in 16:10.90 and 16:17.44, respectively.
The 400m hurdles featured four collegiate debuts for the Patriots. Sophomore
Landon Lindsey led the way in his first collegiate race, finishing fifth in 57.32 seconds.
Luke Nicholie (59.64) placed seventh, followed by
Yair Berrios (1:00.27) in ninth and
Zach Guerra (1:00.88) in 11th.
Additional standout performances included freshmen
Diego Oliver and
Jett Haynie setting new personal records in the 400m dash, clocking times of 49.59 and 49.98 seconds, respectively. In the 1500m, the freshmen feats continued as
Wesley Payne (4:15.05) and
Lucas Acevedo (4:15.12) delivered strong showings.

DBU will head south for the Victor Lopez Classic, a two-day meet set for March 28-29 on the campus of Rice University.
