THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Soccer team came up short in Seattle on Wednesday night, falling 2-1 to Seattle Pacific at Interbay Stadium. Trailing by two goals early in the second half, the Patriots cut the deficit in half thanks to an
Erik Oliveira strike in the 68th minute, but despite a late push, they were unable to find the equalizer. The loss halts DBU's four-game unbeaten streak and drops the Patriots to 3-2-1 on the season.
The first half was a defensive battle, as neither side managed to break through in the opening 45 minutes. Just three minutes into the second half, Seattle Pacific broke the deadlock when Kasey Toevs headed home a cross from close range past Patriot keeper
Jackson Bankers. The Falcons doubled their lead in the 57th minute on a goal from Brady Fendrich.
DBU responded quickly. Oliveira's second goal of the season, set up by
Jack Golden and
Caleb Centeno, gave the Patriots life in the 68th minute. DBU's best chance to level the score came in the 86th minute when
Luis Zazueta fired a shot on frame, only to be denied by SPU goalkeeper Brian Lanier.
