Alexis Delagarza bring Patriot fans all the action of Thursday night's match between No. 15 DBU and Mississippi College on FloCollege.
COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF
The Patriots enter 2025 ranked No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll and were tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the Lone Star Conference.
DBU is coming off its 10th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and a 16-3-3 campaign in 2024, finishing the year ranked in the top 20 nationally for the seventh consecutive season.
PATRIOT STORYLINES
Loaded with Experience: DBU returns 17 players, including Second Team All-American
Parker Coe, the LSC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Key Returners: All-Region standouts
Angelina Olmos and
McKenna Vela are back, along with
Anne Louthan, last year's LSC Newcomer of the Year.
Patriot Playmaker: McKenna Vela tallied 11 assists in 2024, the second-most in a single season in program history.
New Faces: 13 newcomers join the squad, highlighted by three Division I transfers and 10 freshmen ready to make an early impact.
High-Powered Attack: Last season, DBU ranked Top 10 nationally in six offensive categories, including:
- No. 4 in assists (57) & assists per game (2.59)
- No. 5 in total points (175)
- No. 7 in goals (59)
Defensive Backbone: The Patriots allowed just 0.72 goals per game in 2024, the fourth-lowest mark in school history.
Big Shoes to Fill: DBU looks to replace two-time All-American
Taylor Tufts, who paced the team with nine goals last season.
SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
- The Choctaws were ranked as high as No. 5 nationally early last season and finished 8-6-3, placing seventh in the Gulf South Conference.
- A tradition-rich program, MC has posted 26 straight winning seasons and earned five NCAA Tournament berths since 2017.
- This year's squad brings back 24 returners but must replace All-Region talents Margherita Giubilato and Irene Lores.
- The Choctaws ranked 23rd nationally in scoring (2.3 goals per game) last year.
- Sophomore forward Jaylen Bodry, who scored five goals in 2024, leads the attack.
- Defensively, MC allowed 1.2 goals per game a season ago.
SERIES HISTORY
This marks the first-ever meeting between DBU and Mississippi College.
