DBU Athletics has announced the addition of Avery Hellmuth as the department's Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academic Services. In her role, she will oversee the department's compliance efforts and serve as a liaison between athletics and departments across University Hill.

"Avery is a perfect fit for Patriot Athletics," said DBU Director of Athletics Matt Duce. "Compliance plays an integral role in our department, and her servant-hearted leadership will provide foundational support to our student-athletes and coaches. Avery's experience as a standout college athlete shapes her leadership, and we are thrilled to welcome her to our team."

Prior to joining DBU, Hellmuth served in the Oklahoma Baptist University Athletics Department, where she began her career in athletics administration in the compliance office. During her time at OBU, she gained experience in NCAA compliance, eligibility, policy writing, and student-athlete development.

Hellmuth also brings five years of experience as a member of the OBU volleyball program. During her playing career, she was a four-time All-Great American Conference selection and helped lead the Bison to three GAC Regular Season Championships and two GAC Tournament Championships. In 2021, she was named the GAC Freshman of the Year, and she was tabbed as a GAC Elite Scholar Student-Athlete in 2023 and 2024.

Beyond the court, Hellmuth distinguished herself as a leader in student-athlete governance. She served as President of Oklahoma Baptist's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee before becoming President of the Great American Conference SAAC in 2022. She then advanced to the national level, serving on the NCAA Division II SAAC and its Executive Board before being selected as Chair, representing the interests of Division II student-athletes across the country. Hellmuth also represented student-athletes on the NCAA Division II Management Council.

Hellmuth joins DBU Athletics as the department continues to prioritize the development and success of its student-athletes while upholding the highest standards of integrity, leadership, and excellence as established by the University's mission.
