THE RUNDOWN
DBU (21-4, 14-2 LSC) swept UT Dallas (14-11, 10-6 LSC) Friday night, extending the Patriots' winning streak to six.
Lauren Witte led the kill column with 12, followed closely by
Reagan Fifer's errorless 11-kill performance. Six different DBU attackers recorded at least five kills, leading to the largest kill total in a three-set match in the
Jordan Fish era (52).

Set one was the longest frame the Patriots played all season, lasting 62 rallies.
Avery Keck recorded a kill in the opening rally, but there would be 18 ties and eight lead changes before DBU took a 1-0 lead. Trailing by as much as five, the Comets crawled back and forced deuce play. The Patriots took a 25-24 lead, but the Comets would knot the score. This would happen five more times, as UTD was on the ropes but refused to go down. Finally, with the score tied at 30,
Aizlyn Dewberry put down consecutive kills to win the set.

Frames two and three looked drastically different than their predecessor, as DBU never trailed again for the rest of the night. The Patriots steamrolled the Comets in both the second (25-14) and third set (25-20), cementing their fifth straight win via a sweep, and avenging a four-set loss from last fall.
