RESULTS

RECAP
The DBU men's cross country team finished third at the Lone Star Conference Championships with 121 points. No. 4 West Texas A&M claimed its 14th consecutive conference title, dominating the field with 26 points. Texas A&M International finished second with 70 points.

Freshman Gannon Dolan led the Patriots, finishing 15th overall in 25:21.8. Sophomore Chase Hope followed closely behind, placing 16th in 25:22.8. Graham Scott finished third for DBU in 25th place with a time of 25:41.4, followed by Gavin Brown in 30th at 25:54.5. Hudson Joseph rounded out the scoring five, placing 35th in 26:03.5.

The Patriots came out of the gates strong, establishing a pack near the front of the field through the opening 3K. Between 3K and 6K, however, Oklahoma Christian closed the scoring gap to just 10 points, while Cameron pulled within six. As the race progressed around the lake, DBU battled to gain every possible position and hold off the Eagles and Aggies.  Dolan epitomized the Patriot grit, earning All-Conference honors after leading the Patriot pack by steadily climbing the leaderboard throughout the race. He sat just outside the top 30 at the 3K mark before gaining 12 positions over the final 5K to finish 15th. Furthermore, veterans CJ Hobbs (41st, 26:16.6) and Zach Martin (50th, 26:27.7) rallied to finish before of the scorers from other teams.  Impressively, Martin gained nine places over the 8k race while only wearing one spike, losing his shoe less than two kilometers into the competition.

PATRIOT PONDERINGS
After finishing second at last season's LSC Championship, the Patriots now turn their attention to the South Central Regional Championships in two weeks. Returning to Lubbock, DBU will face a strong field expected to include several Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contenders, including CSU Pueblo, Black Hills State, Fort Lewis, and Colorado Mesa.

The Patriots will also monitor the Central Region Championships, where East Central and Oklahoma Baptist could factor into the regional team standings. Both teams have defeated DBU during the regular season, making their performances at the Central Regional particularly important as the Patriots pursue an NCAA Championship berth.
