TOP STORYLINES
LOOKING FOR A WIN IN THE MIDWEEK: DBU begins a four-game home stretch on Tuesday, starting with a showdown with crosstown foe UT Arlington. The Patriots are in search of their first midweek win since taking down Texas Tech on March 17.
SLUGGING OFFENSE: Scoring 8.4 runs per game, the Patriots boast one of the most powerful offenses in the country, belting 72 home runs (7th in the nation) and slugging .530 (14th).
PATIENCE AT THE PLATE: In addition to its power, DBU has displayed premier patience at the plate, drawing 193 walks to lead CUSA.
HOME RUN THREATS: Seven Patriots had hit at least 7 home runs, good for a slot among the top 15 leaders in CUSA: Ryan Martin (12, 1st), Jake Bennett (11, 2nd), Chayton Krauss (8, 10th), Luke Pettitte (8, 10th), Adam Berghult (7, 14th), Dylan Schlaegel (7, 14th), and Ben Tryon (7, 14th). DBU is the only team in the conference with at least 5 players in the top 15 in home runs.
HOME RUN RATE: DBU's average of 2.00 home runs per game currently ranks as the best pace in program history. The current program record was set by the 2024 squad at 1.92 home runs per contest.
EXTRA-BASE MACHINES: Three Patriots are currently among the top 15 in CUSA in slugging percentage: Dylan Schlaegel (.686, 1st), Ryan Martin (.618, 6th), and Cooper Neville (.587, 13th).
POWER FROM PETTITTE: Luke Pettitte has been a sparkplug for the Patriots since settling in as the everyday designated hitter. Since his first start at DH on March 14, he tops DBU in home runs (8), RBI (24), total bases (54), and slugging percentage (.783). The junior also leads CUSA in conference games in home runs (7), total bases (46), and slugging percentage (.868).
THE 200-40 CLUB: With 200 career hits and 38 career home runs, Chayton Krauss is 1 homer away from becoming only the 4th Patriot in history to record 200 hits and 40 home runs. He is the 17th player in program history to reach 200 hits and the 7th to eclipse the mark in 3 seasons. Already tied for sixth all-time in career home runs, he would be the only player in school history to join the 200-40 club in 3 seasons.
KROLL CLOSES THE DOOR: Athan Kroll has emerged as the closer for the Patriots with six saves (second in CUSA). Over his last 6 appearances, he has recorded 5 straight saves and has allowed only 1 run in 8.0 innings for a 1.13 ERA in those outings.
PHENOMENAL FIELDING: The Patriots' defense is 17th in the nation in fielding percentage with a .981 clip. DBU is one point off maintaining the program record of .982 set in 2024.
CONSISTENT KRAUSS: Everyday infielder Chayton Krauss has yet to commit an error in 221 chances this season and has not committed an error in 548 chances since his last miscue on March 14, 2025.

SCOUTING UT ARLINGTON
STOPPING THE SKID: UT Arlington dropped two of three games to California Baptist over the weekend, exploding for a 19-1 win in game three on Saturday to stop a three-game losing streak.
.300 CLUB: With a .256 team batting average, the Maverick offense is led by senior Xavier Melendez, who is currently hitting a career-high .383 (2nd in the WAC) while sharing the team high in home runs with 5. Junior Harold Laracuente is the other Maverick hitting above .300 with a .312 mark.
DOUBLES FROM LARACUENTE: Laracuente is the team leader in slugging percentage at .472. He is 5th in the WAC with 12 doubles this season.
TWO-WAY DYGERT: Two-way player Caylon Dygert has been a focal point of the UTA roster, topping the team with a 3.40 ERA (4th in the WAC) in 9 starts while hitting .234 in 77 at-bats. He has not played in a midweek game since March 17 versus Stephen F. Austin, when he subbed in as a pinch hitter.
SKOLFIELD ON THE BUMP: Junior transfer Dylan Skolfied is scheduled to make his sixth start and ninth appearance on the mound on Tuesday. He has not allowed a run in his last 2 appearances, a total of 4.0 innings of work against Sam Houston and Baylor.
