The Dallas Baptist University dropped both games of the doubleheader against the #4 ranked Texas Longhorns on Saturday afternoon in Austin, Texas, by the scores of 9-2 and 3-2. The Patriots fall to 32-23 on the season.
The Patriots received two outstanding pitching performances from Sophomore Randall Taylor in game one and Senior Barrett Pliler in the second game. Taylor pitched seven innings, allowing two runs, one earned, while Pliler went six innings, allowing three runs on only four hits.
Game one was tied going into the eighth, but the Longhorns scored seven runs in with two outs to take the win. In game two, the Patriots were winning 2-1 going into the seventh and final inning, but after a controversial call went UT's way, the Longhorns scored two runs, sweeping the doubleheader.
