DBU held the annual Patriot Athletic Banquet on Monday, April 26, 2010, in the Hillcrest Great Hall of the John G. Mahler Student Center at Dallas Baptist University. The Patriots recognized all 15 intercollegiate teams at the banquet.
The 2010 Patriot Awards are given to a male and a female athlete who excel on and off the field with hard work and dedication to their team, academics, and spiritual life. The awards are given by DBU President, Dr. Gary Cook. The two athletes who received this year's honors were Senior
Lauren Zegarelli (Volleyball) and Senior
Austin Knight (Baseball).
The Male and Female Athletes of the Year were given to two individuals who have excelled on the playing field during their career at DBU and were presented by DBU Director of Athletics Ryan Erwin. The Male Athlete of the Year was awarded to Senior
Bennett Smith (Men's Golf), and the Female Co- Athletes of the Year were awarded to Senior
Hannah Steffan (Track/ Cross Country) and Senior
Amanda Emmert (Volleyball).
The Patriots have several student-athletes who excelled in the classroom by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. These students were recognized and bestowed the President's Academic Excellence Award. The recipients are listed below:
