DBU Falls to UT-Pan Am

The DBU Patriot baseball fell to 11-8 on the season, after losing 21-7 on Friday evening to the Broncs from UT-Pan American at Patriot Field.  

UT-Pan Am scored two runs in the first inning, after the first and second batters each doubled to left field, taking an early 2-0 lead.  

DBU countered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning, after Senior Cody Montgomery tripled and later scored on a RBI single by Senior Jeremy Goldschmeding.  

The Broncs added two more runs in the second inning on three hits and in the third inning used a solo homerun and two hits to add two more runs, making the score 6-1.

Patriots once again responded win the third inning, after Senior Brad Boles reached on an error and Sophomore Austin Krum was hit by a pitch.  Montgomery hit his second triple of the night scoring two more runs and Senior Drew Holder followed with a RBI triple, closing the margin to 6-4.  

UT-Pan Am used a ten run inning in the fourth to increase their lead to 16-4. The Broncs scored all ten runs in the inning with two outs on five hits and one DBU error.  

The Broncs added three more runs in the fifth inning, to make the score 19-4.

DBU managed two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a single by Krum and a double by Montgomery, who later scored on consecutive errors by UT-Pan Am.

In the sixth inning, UT-Pan Am scored two more runs making the score 21-6.  

In the eighth inning, Junior Jimmy Thoma homered to lead off the inning.  Holder doubled in the ninth and scored on a two-run homerun by Junior Matt Tucker.  

The third game of the series will take place at Patriot Field on Saturday afternoon beginning at noon.
