The Patriots from Dallas Baptist University defeated UT-Pan American on Saturday afternoon by the score of 13-9 at Patriot Field.  With the win, DBU wins the weekend series and improves to 12-8 on the year.

Picking up the win for the Patriots was Junior Tyler Rowland, which was his first of the season.

The Broncos scored one run with two outs in the first inning, taking an early 1-0 lead.

DBU responded in the bottom of the first.  Sophomore Austin Krum hit a leadoff homerun and Senior Drew Holder doubled.  Freshman Evan Bigley followed with a double of his own and later scored on single by Junior Matt Tucker, making the score 3-1.

Pan Am scored four runs in the third inning on four hits and two walks, leaving the score 5-3.

The Patriots countered in the bottom of the inning, after Krum hit another leadoff homerun and Senior Cody Montgomery followed with a solo shot of his own.  Goldschmeding reached first and Holder and Bigley were both hit by a pitch to load the bases for Junior Jimmy Thoma, who hit a grand slam to give DBU the lead 9-5.

The Broncs added two runs in the fourth inning, both unearned runs to make the score 9-7.

Krum lead off the bottom of the fourth with a single and Montgomery added a double, which set up a three-run homerun by Holder, increasing the lead to 12-7.

Pan Am pushed across two more runs in the seventh, closing in on the Patriot lead 12-9.

DBU added another run in the eighth, after Holder doubled and scored on a RBI triple by Bigley, leaving the score 13-9.

The Patriots resume action on Tuesday afternoon, when they travel to Nacogdoches to take on Stephen F. Austin.
