Patriots Pitching Woes Continue

The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Baseball team was defeated by the #25 ranked Baylor Bears on Tuesday night by the score of 15-6 in Waco.  With the loss, the Patriots drop to 31-21 on the season and are currently on a four game losing streak.

The Patriot pitching staff continued to struggle on Tuesday night, using five pitchers in eight innings, allowing 15 runs on 16 hits.

DBU took the lead in the second inning when Freshman Trevor Head hit a solo homerun down the left field line, his fourth of the season, giving the Patriots a 1-0 lead.

The Bears scored five runs in the bottom of the inning, off of DBU starter Junior Rodney Brantley, who was stuck with loss, falling to 8-4 on the season.  Brantley pitched two and a third innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and walking two. 

Baylor added two more runs in the third, but the Patriots countered scoring four runs in the top of the third, with two RBI single by Sophomore Austin Krum and Freshman Evan Bigley. 

Baylor increased their lead in the fifth, scoring three more runs, pushing the score to 10-5.  The Bears added two runs in the seventh and three runs in the eighth, before allowing the Patriots to score one run in the ninth, on a RBI single by Senior Jeremy Goldschmeding, leaving the final score 15-6.

The Patriots resume action this weekend with a three game series against UT-Arlington, with the first game on Thursday at Patriot Field beginning at 7:00.
