The Patriots baseball team suffered their second loss in row and lost the three game series to UTA at Clay Gould Ballpark. The Mavericks pushed across 13 runs in seven innings to defeat DBU 13-3. The Patriots with the loss fall to 32-23 on the season, while UTA improves their record to 25-33.
The Patriots pitching staff struggles once again in the loss, giving up eight earned runs, 13 hits, and waked five batters. Junior Rodney Brantley picked up the loss for the Patriots, dropping his season record to 8-5. The Patriots defense on the day did not help matters, making four errors that led to five of the Mavericks runs.
DBU's offense was provided by Senior Drew Holder and Sophomore Austin Krum who both homered during the game. It is Holder's 19th and Krum's ninth homeruns for the season. For the series Krum went 6 for 12 with four homeruns, seven RBI's, and scored five runs, while Holder went 5 for 10 with two homeruns, three RBI's, and scored four runs to lead the Patriots offense.
The Patriots will play their final game of the season on Monday, May 20th, against UT-San Antonio, in San Antonio at 3:00.
