The Dallas Baptist University Baseball team was defeated by the Aggies from Texas A&M on Saturday night at Olsen Field in College Station, by the score of 4-3 in 12 innings, dropping the Patriots season record to 31-18.
The Aggies struck first scoring two runs in the first inning on a two run homerun off of DBU starter Junior Jordan Craft. Texas A&M added an unearned run in the second inning, chasing Craft from the game. Junior Rodney Brantley pitched five and a third scoreless innings allowing only one hit and striking out four.
The Patriots managed to score one run in the fourth, after Senior Cody Montgomery hit a two out double and scored on a RBI single by Junior Matt Tucker, leaving the score 3-1.
DBU tied the game in the seventh inning after Freshman Trevor Head doubled and scored on a RBI single by Sophomore Austin Krum. Krum stole second and scored on a RBI single by Senior Jeremy Goldschmeding, tying the game 3-3.
The Aggies scored the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning, after Junior Randall Taylor walked the lead off hitter and beaned the next batter, which set up pitched a sacrifice bunt to put runners on second and third with one out. Taylor intentionally walked the next batter to load the bases, which set up the winning hit to make the final score 4-3.
DBU will resume action on Saturday afternoon when they take on the Longhorns from the University of Texas in doubleheader action beginning at 1:00 in Austin, Texas.
