Lady Patriot Soccer Team Rolls to Easy Victory Over TAMIU

DBU's Women Soccer Team defeated Texas A&M International University on Thursday afternoon riding the right leg of Senior Mandy Gomez.  Gomez scored two goals to help the Patriots to a 5-0 victory.

With the victory, DBU improved to 4-10-1 overall and 2-6-1 in conference play, while TAMIU fell to 1-7-1 and 2-12-1.

The Patriots raced out to the early 1-0 lead when Gomez scored her first goal of the game off a perfect pass from Freshman Chelsea Ross.  Freshman Ashleigh Elkins made it 2-0 heading into the half when she scored an unassisted goal from about 15 yards out.

DBU added three more goals in the second half, including one by Sophomore Sarah Meierhofer, one by Ross, and another by Gomez.  Ross also assisted on Meierhofer's goal to wrap up a strong day.

Sophomore Emily Evans had a strong day at goal by wrapping up her third shut out of the year.  Evans ended the day with three saves.

DBU will wrap up their play at home for the 2007 season when they welcome Incarnate Word to Patriot Field on Saturday for a 4:00 match.
