Box Score

Sophomore Jordan Meaker (3-1) led DBU to a 13-2 victory over the University of Portland Pilots by pitching 8.0 innings, scattering five hits, allowing no runs, and striking out seven Pilots.

DBU, who slapped the ball all over the ballpark, had eight different Patriots with at least one hit and smashed 15 total hits in the victory.  The Patriots improved to 14-11 with victory, while Portland fell to 10-11.

DBU began their scoring in the top of the fourth inning after Sophomore Evan Bigley doubled to left field to bring up Senior Matt Tucker, who walked.  Junior Nick Santos then drove a pitch over the centerfielder's head for a two out, two RBI double, giving DBU the early 2-0 lead.

The Patriots continued to score in the next two innings when they posted four runs each inning.  The top of the fifth rally began with two outs when Junior Austin Krum doubled and scored off a double by Freshman Austin Knight, bringing up Senior Garrett Baker, who reached on catcher's interference.  Bigley then smashed his second double of the game scoring Knight and advancing Baker to third.  Tucker finished off the scoring in the fifth after he hit a two RBI single left field.

The top of the sixth saw DBU push their lead to 10-0, when they scored four runs on five hits.  Sophomore Trevor Head led the inning off with a monster homerun over the centerfield wall.  Sophomore JT Bloodworth restarted the rally with a single, which brought up Krum who singled to left field.  With Bloodworth and Krum on first and second, Knight slapped a two RBI double down the left field line.  Freshman Ryan Enos, who was pinch hitting for Bigley, smashed a double to score Knight for the final run of the inning.

DBU finished off the Pilots in the top of the ninth by loading the bases for Bloodworth, who hit a two RBI double down the left field line.  Head, who was on third base in result of Bloodworth's double, scored on a ground out by Krum to wrap up the scoring for the Patriots.

The Pilots only two runs came in the bottom of the ninth when they scored both runs of off Junior Tyson Bagley, who gave up a hit and walked three.

The Patriots were led by their outfield at the plate and Bloodworth, who is the starting second baseman.  Krum, who currently has a nine game hitting streak, went three for six, with one RBI, while Bigley went two for three, including two doubles, and finishing up the outfield was right fielder Santos, who had a two for four night, with two RBI, and one run scored.  Bloodworth wrapped up his night by going two for five, with two RBI, and one run scored.
