University to Patriot Field on Saturday night for a non conference match. The Lady Patriots, who are playing short handed, lost the match 2-1. With the loss, DBU fell to 2-3, while ACU improved to 5-4.
ACU jumped out to the early 1-0 lead with 19 minutes left in the first half. The score remained 1-0 heading into intermission. The Patriots determined not to go down without a fight tied the score up in the 50th minute.
Freshman Ashleigh Elkins scored the tying goal off a deflection from a corner kick by Freshman Chelsea Ross. With the score tied 1-1, ACU was awarded a penalty kick after a foul committed in the box by the Lady Patriots. Courtney Wilson perfectly placed the ball in the back corner to give ACU the lead and eventually the victory.
DBU will try to rebound from the tough loss when the travel to Commerce, Texas to take on
Texas A&M Commerce on September 18. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00.
